The Assam unit of Trinamool Congress has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission alleging hate speech against Muslim community by Assam Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Jharkhand.

President of Assam unit of TMC, Ripun Bora in a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner of India stated, “With reference to the above this is to bring to your notice the following serious complaint against Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam during his speech in the election campaign meeting at Jharkhand on 15th May 2024. During his speech he incited and instigated the Hindu community against the Muslim community by saying that the Mughals had made dirty the entire country now we Hindus must clean it. He further incited that if this time BJP gets 400 seats, then the Baba Biswanath
a temple will be build-up at Gyanvapi Masjid place".

He added, “Referring to the arrest of Ålamgir Alam, Minister of Jharkhand on money laundering case he said that we Hindus must not tolerate and allow the Muslims to keep such huge money in their custody. He further said that only Muslims leaders can commit such offences. The above speeches of Sarma have created hatred against the Muslim community and he instigated the Hindus against the Muslims which are not only unconstitutional but also a serious violation of the model code of conduct of ECI which is in force in the entire country in view of ongoing general election (Lok Sabha election 2024).”
