Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) is set to join the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura. Two MLAs from the party are likely to be inducted as ministers. This comes just days after a tripartite agreement was signed with the Centre and Tripura government to resolve all issues of the indigenous people of Tripura.

Tipra Motha has 13 MLAs in the 60-member House. A TMP leader, who refused to be named, told ET, "Senior TMP legislator Animesh Debbarma and party MLA Brishaketu Debbarma would likely take oath as Cabinet ministers. The oath taking will take place soon."
