The reason why PM Modi is filing his nomination from Varanasi today at sharp 11.40 am

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will file his nomination from Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency later today. As per reports, PM Modi will visit Kaal Bhairav Temple at 10:15 AM. Later he will meet with NDA leaders at 10:45 AM. Notably, Modi will file his nomination at sharp 11:40 AM today.

Now many are saying that PM Modi has decided to file nomination at 11.40 am because as it is the 'Abhijit Mahurat' and 'Anand Yog’ as per Hindu Panchang.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be present for Modi's nomination filing.


The BJP's NDA partners Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, LJP chief Chirag Paswan, Apna Dal (S) president Anupriya Patel and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party president Omprakash Rajbhar are also expected to be present.

Besides Adityanath, chief ministers Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand), Mohan Yadav (Madhya Pradesh), Vishnu Deo Sai (Chhattisgarh), Eknath Shinde (Maharashtra), Bhajan Lal Sharma (Rajasthan), Himanta Biswa Sharma (Assam), Nayab Singh Saini (Haryana), Pramod Sawant (Goa), Prem Singh Tamang (Sikkim) and Manik Saha (Tripura) are also likely to attend the prime minister's nomination filing.

Varanasi is the stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party and PM Modi. He won the seat twice- the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress has pitted Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai against PM Modi in Varanasi. This is the third time Ajay Rai will face PM Modi in the Lok Sabha contest.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi won the seat with over 6,74,664 votes and commanded a vote share of 63.6 per cent. In 2014, PM Modi contested two Lok Sabha seats- from Gujarat's Vadodara and Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi.
