Mukesh Dalal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, was declared the uncontested winner after all other candidates, including the Congress nominee, withdrew from the race.

Surat Election Result 2024: Unopposed Victory for BJP

The unopposed victory of Mukesh Dalal came after the nomination papers of the Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani and his substitute were rejected. The rejection, based on alleged discrepancies in the signatures of their proposers, led to the withdrawal of all remaining eight candidates. The rejection was carried out under Section 36(2) of the Representation of the People Act, which allows the Returning Officer (RO) to examine and reject nominations based on valid objections.

Surat Elections Result 2024: BJP's Stronghold in Surat

BJP has maintained a strong presence in the Surat Lok Sabha constituency in past elections. In the 2019 general elections, Dipsinh Shankarsinh Rathod of BJP won with 701,984 votes, while the runner-up, Thakor Rajendrasinh Shivsinh, garnered 432,997 votes. Similarly, in the 2014 elections, Dipsinh Shankarsinh Rathod secured victory with 508,437 votes against NCP's Kandhalbhai Sarmanbhai Jadeja, who received 240,466 votes.
