Currently, 10 districts of Manipur have IDPs. Manipur's Chief Electoral Officer Pradeep Kumar Jha told ET, "The exercise will be carried out in the 10 districts of Manipur and every district will issue respective notification for the special polling station."
Jha had recently said that designated assistant returning officers would also be appointed for each district to take the votes of the displaced persons in the relief camps. Special polling stations would be set up for a cluster of polling stations, the official said, adding counting of votes will take place at the district headquarters.
According to the final electoral roll published on January 22, the total number of voters in Manipur is 2,02,6,623, including 1,04,7,929 women.
The total number of polling stations in all the 16 districts of Manipur is 2,955.
For the two Lok Sabha seats, polling for Outer Manipur (reserved for tribals) will be held in two phases - April 19 and April 26 while for the Inner Manipur seat, polling will be held on April 19.
The Bishnupur district administration on Thursday notified that special polling stations have been identified to enable all eligible voters staying in the relief camps to exercise their right to vote in the Lok Sabha election.
