Rae Bareli Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Rae Bareli, a traditional Congress stronghold, is witnessing a fierce electoral battle between Dinesh Pratap Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rahul Gandhi of the Indian National Congress (INC). This constituency, one of Uttar Pradesh's 80 Lok Sabha seats, holds significant importance in Indian politics.

2019 Lok Sabha Elections

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sonia Gandhi, the former Congress president, secured victory for the fifth consecutive time, including a bypoll, with a comfortable margin of 167,178 votes. She garnered 534,918 votes, representing a vote share of 55.78%. Her closest rival, BJP leader Dinesh Pratap Singh, received 367,740 votes, equivalent to 38.35% of the total votes polled.

2014 Lok Sabha Elections

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sonia Gandhi emerged victorious, securing 526,434 votes and commanding a vote share of 63.80%. Her nearest competitor, BJP candidate Ajay Agrawal, received 173,721 votes, constituting 21.05% of the valid votes polled. Gandhi's victory over Agrawal was by a substantial margin of 352,713 votes.

Rae Bareli is recognised as one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and is considered a bastion of the Indian National Congress. From 1967 to 1977, the seat was held by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and from 2004 until her appointment to the Rajya Sabha in 2024, by Sonia Gandhi.

The constituency had an electorate of 9.59 lakhs in 2019, with nearly 30% belonging to Scheduled Castes, 12% Muslims, 11% Brahmins, 11% Rajputs, and 9% Yadavs.
