Priyanka Gandhi Vadra promises increase in wages for tea garden workers in Jorhat

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, made a commitment to the tea garden workers in Jorhat. She promised an increase in daily wages if the Opposition alliance is voted to power.

In Jorhat, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, made a commitment to the tea garden workers. She said, 'If the Opposition alliance is voted to power, we will ensure an increase in your daily wages.'On Tuesday in Titabor, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra actively campaigned for Gaurav Gogoi, the Lok Sabha candidate.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed concern about the BJP's intentions. She stated, 'If the BJP returns to power, they might attempt to subvert the democratic process by repealing the Constitution and avoiding future elections.'

Reflecting on her past visit to Assam and the unfulfilled promises, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra recalled, 'During the assembly polls 2-3 years ago, I had pledged to increase wages if Congress came to power. Unfortunately, despite your choice of BJP, the wages remained stagnant at around Rs 250.'


Asserting the promises in their manifesto, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra emphasized, 'If we assume power at the Centre, our commitment is to enhance the wages of tea garden workers.'

During the roadshow, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the BJP's campaign tactics. She highlighted, 'While BJP leaders focus on irrelevant topics, Gaurav Gogoi consistently addresses the concerns of the people. To combat price escalation, supporting Congress is crucial. Let's refrain from voting based on religious or caste considerations. It's a moment to educate through ballots.'

Emphasizing the significance of Congress's justice guarantees, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated, 'The five justice guarantees by Congress aim to offer solace to the public while fortifying the future of the youth and the nation.'

The electoral battleground in Jorhat features a head-to-head contest between Gaurav and the incumbent BJP MP, Topon Kumar Gogoi. The voting in Jorhat is scheduled for the initial phase on April 19.
