Chandigarh: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday dared PM Modi to contest the polls on the issues of unemployment, farmers’ demands, demonetisation and women security. At a rally in Ambala, Haryana, Gandhi compared the PM with Duryodhana, a character in the epic Mahabharata.

Gandhi said the PM was “deflecting from the real issues to cover up for his failures. The PM should show courage and contest the elections on the issues of progress, farmers’ demands, unemployment and women security.”

“They (BJP leaders) target martyrs, including those in my family, to cover up for their shortfalls. This country has never forgiven ego and arrogance. History is witness to this, the Mahabharata is witness to this.” Gandhi later attended another rally at Hisar and held a roadshow in Rohtak, constituencies key to Congress’ revival in Haryana. In 2014 general elections, the party had won only one seat from the state.
