The public rally will be held in Siliguri’s Kawakhali. BJP has almost completed preparation for its first North Bengal rally.
BJP leader and MLA Dipak Barman said, “Prime Minister will reach Siliguri at 3PM and then he will address a public rally. Ahead of the public rally, he will participate in some government programmes. Then he will enter the public rally.”
The Prime Minister has addressed three public meetings in the first nine days of March and now in North Bengal even before the formal announcement of the poll schedule.
North Bengal poses a huge opportunity for BJP, which has a strong foothold in the region.
The Prime Minister’s rally in Siliguri is part of the BJP’s plan to further consolidate its support base in North Bengal, where it has bagged seven of the eight Lok Sabha seats in 2019.
BJP central leadership puts huge importance to the BJP and thus eyeing more seats in Bengal, sources in the party said.
In his first rally in Hooghly district’s Arambagh and Krishnanagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Trinamool government on Sandeshkhali issue and also said that "the countdown of Trinamool government's defeat" and "farewell bell" has already started. Giving a clarion call for victory of BJP in all Lok Sabha seats in Bengal, the Prime Minister asserted that the Muslim vote bank which Mamata Banerjee considered as a strong votebank, will also be uprooted in the Lok Sabha polls.
In Barasat public rally, Modi again raised “Narishakti" issue and said Sandeshkhali will not be restricted to Sandeshkhali but it will sweep the entire Bengal. He slammed Trinamool's political culture and reluctance to act on issues like Sandeshkhali, calling their action in Sandeshkhali.
