NEW DELHI: The Modi government, following its re-election, is understood to have held consultations on inviting foreign leaders for the swearing-in ceremony and the list includes leaders from the P-5 states, immediate neighbourhood, SE Asia and West Asia.

While the list is being drawn up, among the probable are India’s key neighbours, including Bangladesh. However, Bangla PM Sheikh Hasina may have to skip the ceremony if the swearing-in is held after May 27 as she is scheduled to travel to East Asia from May 28. When Hasina spoke to PM Narendra Modi following his re-election on Thursday, the two had discussed an opportunity to meet soon.

There are speculations that few global leaders could also be invited for the swearing in ceremony. However, there is no confirmation as to which P-5 leaders could be invited for the event.
