Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not stopping JDS MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexually assaulting women, from leaving the country.

Revanna's party and the BJP are allies for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The MP, who is seeking re-election from Hassan in Karnataka, is believed to have left the country after the voting ended on Friday. "You have seen what is happening in Karnataka, and these people are talking about women's safety," the Congress leader said, addressing an election rally in Assam's Dhubri. "PM did not stop him from leaving India. Modi is far away from the reality of common people," she said. "Modi makes schemes just to cover scams and save his friends," she said.

Vadra also criticised the government's handling of the Covid-19 vaccine rollout. "It is in the news that Covid vaccination can make you really sick ... the company and the BJP knew about it. Only because of it that electoral bonds have been issued in the name of the BJP," she alleged.
