Kolkata: A few incidents of violence were reported from West Bengal on Monday as BJP and Trinamool workers got injured during clashes in parts of Barrackpore, Howrah, Bangaon and Arambagh seats.

In Howrah's Liluah, polling official Gautam Manna was allegedly slapped by a polling agent. Election Commission of India has sought a report on the issue. A major scuffle broke out in Barrackpore constituency's Titagarh and central forces had to lathicharge to bring the situation under control. Police had to intervene to bring the situation under control in Howrah.

Although ECI claimed that polling was overall peaceful, it said it received nearly 1,400 complaints from different parties regarding EVM malfunctioning and agents being stopped from entering booths.
