'Not sex scandal, but mass rape': Rahul Gandhi hits out at JD(S) Prajwal Revanna

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has stirred controversy by accusing JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna of mass rape and creating explicit videos. Gandhi made these allegations at a rally in Shivamogga, Karnataka. He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he supported the "mass rapist" on stage. This comes amidst a scandal involving Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexually abusing women.

"Not sex scandal, but mass rape," Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said at rally at Shivamogga in Karnataka referring to alleged sex scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.

“Every BJP leader was aware Prajwal Revanna is a mass rapist, yet they supported him, formed alliance with JD(S)", said Rahul Gandhi.


During an elections rally in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi claimed, “Prajwal Revanna rapes 400 women and makes videos".

Rahul Gandhi also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reiterating what Priyanka Gandhi had said, “On stage, PM Modi supported 'mass rapist".

Karnataka Home Minister Issues Lookout Circular for Revanna
In response to the allegations, Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara stated that a lookout circular has been issued for Revanna, who is currently abroad. Parameshwara mentioned that there is no provision to grant more than 24 hours for Revanna to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case. He confirmed that a lookout notice has been issued and that all ports and airports have been informed about it.

Regarding the investigation, Parameshwara stated, "Our SIT members are taking legal opinion on whether to give time to the accused. The SIT will move forward to arrest him since there is no provision to give more than 24 hours." He also mentioned that one more victim has come forward and lodged a complaint against Revanna.

A woman has filed a police complaint accusing Prajwal and his father of sexually harassing her.

He said one more victim has come forward and lodged a complaint against Prajwal.

"The victim's statements have been recorded. In the meantime, one more woman has lodged a complaint, whose details I cannot share," the Minister said.

The SIT is expected to take further action based on legal advice and the ongoing investigation.

Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and the son of MLA and former Minister H D Revanna. He was the NDA candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, where polling was held on April 26. Reports of explicit video clips allegedly involving the 33-year-old MP have surfaced in Hassan recently.

Prajwal, had left for Frankfurt on April 27, a day after the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state and soon after the state government announced formation of an SIT to probe the charges.

Breaking his silence ever since the alleged scandal broke out in the midst of electioneering for April 26 polling, Prajwal said the "truth shall prevail" and added, "As I am not in Bangalore to attend the inquiry, I've communicated with CID, Bangalore, through my advocate (about joining the probe)."
