Simultaneously, the Election Commission issued another notification concerning the "adjourned" poll in the Betul constituency of Madhya Pradesh. This adjournment transpired due to the unfortunate demise of the BSP's candidate.
According to electoral procedures, if a candidate from a recognized national or state party passes away before the polls, the election gets postponed. This delay allows the respective party to nominate and field a fresh candidate.
Originally scheduled for April 26, the voting in the Betul constituency was rescheduled due to the aforementioned circumstances.
The states and union territories covered in the third phase include Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Commencing on April 19, the seven-phase electoral process to elect the 18th Lok Sabha will culminate on June 1. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4, marking the conclusion of this extensive democratic exercise.
The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to occur in seven stages, during which citizens nationwide will cast their votes on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. The result for Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be be announced on June 4.
