Posters with the slogan 'No Registry, No Vote' have appeared on the gates and walls of several apartment complexes. Some posters specifically mention local BJP MP and former Union minister Dr Mahesh Sharma, calling for his intervention.
Protests have intensified in residential complexes like Gardenia Glory in Sector 46, Noida, Futec Gateway in Sector 75, and Himalayan Pride, Nirala Greens, and Nirala Global in Greater Noida West.
Abhishek Srivastava, a resident, expressed frustration over the pending registry of flats in his apartment complex's tower for two years. He stated, "We are tired of visiting the builder's office repeatedly."
Rakesh Ruhela, another resident, lamented the lack of support from the builder and local development authority. "We urge the government to ensure our registry and grant us ownership of our flats," he demanded.
The protests have led to some progress, with the builder of Nirala Greens reportedly depositing 25% of the dues to the authority. However, residents remain determined to continue their fight.
A resident of Gardenia Glory noted, "Everyone is supporting the builder. No one is backing us. We are living here as unauthorized residents." Residents claimed that despite receiving their flats a decade ago, they are still waiting for ownership rights despite making full payments years ago.
Officials from the local development authority declined to comment on the matter. Residents remain steadfast in their demand for property rights and vow to withhold their votes until their demands are met.
