BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday stepped up his attack on the Congress saying if the party were to come to power, it would render Indian soldiers helpless by diluting the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act.

Modi, addressing a massive election rally of the BJP in Benglauru, said the Congress manifesto says if the party were to come to power at the Centre AFSPA would be diluted. "They also plan to withdraw our forces from Jammu & Kashmir," the PM said.

The BJP had organised the rally five days ahead of the second phase of the polls targeting voters in Benglauru North, Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru South, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur and Kolar Lok Sabha constituencies. He remembered the late Union Minister Ananthkumar and the late Jayanagar MLA B N Vijayakumar.

He appealed for another opportunity to rule the country, and asked: "When Congress' 'mahamilavati remote govt' was at centre, didn't blasts occur in Bengaluru?Didn't the nation was living under fear of terror attacks?Did any major blast took place in last 5 yrs of your "chowkidaar's chowkidaari".It was power of your 1 vote that made it possible."

Present on the dais were the party's MP candidates, former CM S.M.Krishna, BJP state president B.S.Yeddyurappa, campaign committee president R.Ashoka and BJP state vice president Tejaswini Ananthkumar.
