Mallikarjun Kharge writes to Modi, seeks time to explain Congress manifesto
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of attempting to divide society through the'redistribution of wealth' controversy. Kharge defended the Congress manifesto, which aims to provi...

Defending the Congress manifesto, Kharge said that the 'Nyay Patra' (manifesto) is aimed at providing justice to youngsters, women, farmers, labourers and marginalised people across castes and communities.
Accusing the Prime Minister of seeking to divide society, Kharge said, "It has become your habit to seize on a few words taken out of context and create communal divide."
The Congress president sought time to explain the manifesto to PM. "You are being misinformed by your advisors about things that are not even written in our manifesto. I would be more than happy to meet you in person to explain our 'Nyay Patra' so that, as PM of the country, you don't make any statements that are false." Referring to Modi's recent speeches, the Congress leader said he is "neither shocked nor surprised" by the language used by the prime minister. "It was expected that you and other leaders from your party would start speaking in this manner after you saw the dismal performance of the BJP in the first phase of the elections," Kharge said.
Earlier, Congress communication department incharge, Jairam Ramesh, challenged the BJP to find a single word in his party's 50-page manifesto that hinted at wealth distribution.
He said, "Because of PM Narendra Modi's policies in the last 10 years, unemployment and inflation increased in the country. Economic disparity reached a new high, which was not seen in the last 100 years. We've been stressing on Nari Nyay, Yuva Nyay, Kisan Nyaya, Shramik Nyay, and Hissedari Nyay. We gave 25 guarantees, according to that. We have a positive agenda. PM Modi has now stopped saying '400 paar' and 'Modi ki Guarantee'. He has panicked and is using the language of polarisation."
