Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday launched the party's 'Ghar Ghar Guarantee' programme under which the party functionaries would reach out to 80 million households and make them aware of its five sets of promises with 25 guarantees that the party has vowed to implement if voted to power.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress chose Usmanpur, Kaithwara area in the North East Delhi parliamentary constituency, one of the three constituencies that the party would be contesting in the national capital this time, for the launch of the campaign.

Kharge and other party members also distributed pamphlets about the details of the five sets of Congress promises that have already been announced by the party during the course of Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' that concluded in Mumbai recently.

Addressing the gathering, Kharge said the five sets of the Congress guarantees will offer solutions to the problems of all sections of the society, including the jobless youth, distressed farmers, women, backward sections and others besides conducting a caste survey.

"We are distributing this guarantee card to take our 'Paanch Nyay Pachees Guarantee' to people. All Congress leaders and workers will take this card to households across the counts and will tell people what our alliance government will do when it assumes power," Kharge said.

Kharge said many promises of PM Narendra Modi such as creating enough jobs for the youth remain unfulfilled while Congress is committed to keep its promises. "We give a guarantee that our government has always worked for people and will always do so. PM Modi talks about 'Modi ki Guarantees' but his guarantee never reaches people," Kharge said while recalling many policy initiatives of the erstwhile UPA government.

Later in the evening, Kharge expelled former Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam from the party for six years following 'anti-party activities'.
