Lok Sabha Polls: JP Aggarwal, Kanhaiya Kumar, Charanjit Singh Channi among 10 more Congress candidates
Congress announces Lok Sabha candidates for upcoming elections, including veterans like J P Aggarwal and new faces like Kanhaiya Kumar, aiming to secure victories in different constituencies.

The Congress has fielded former Akali Dal leader Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu to take on sitting Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal from Bhattinda, former AAP MP-turned Congressman Dharam Vir Gandhi to fight against Congress MP-turned-BJP leader Praneet Kaur (wife for Ex-CM Captain Amarinder Singh) from Patiala and sitting MLA Sukhpal Singh Khairana against sitting MP Simrajit Singh Mann of break-away Akali Dal from Sangrur. The Congress retained sitting MPs Gurjeet Singh Aujla from Amritsar and Amar Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib-SC seat.
The third Delhi seat allotted to the Congress in alliance with AAP, North West-SC, went to former BJP MP-turned Congressman Udit Raj. The BJP currently holds all these Delhi seats. While senior party leader Agarwal, a former Delhi PCC president has represented Chandi Chowk in the past and will not fight against BJP’s Praveen Khandewal. The Congress overlooked the claims of homegrown Congress leaders Anil Chodhuray (former PCC chief) and Sandeep Sandeep Dikshit (Ex-MP) to pick Kanhaiya Kumar for the North-East Delhi against BJP sitting MP Manoj Tiwari of BJP. Similarly, the AICC favoured neo Congressman Udita Raj for North West Delhi-SC West by rejecting the claims of Delhi Congress leaders Raj Kumar Chauhan and Jaikrishnan. It will be crucial for Kanhaiya Kumar and Udit Raj to garner the support of the traditional Congress leaders and workers to achieve their goals.
The Congress also picked Ujjal Rewati Raman Singh, son of SP leader Rewati Raman Singh, who recently ‘joined the Congress’ for the Allahabad seat.
The Congress also announced 75 more Assembly candidates in Odisha.
