Lok Sabha Polls: Election Commission of India team in Bengal to review poll plan

A 13-member team of Election Commission of India, led by chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar, arrived in West Bengal to review preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections amid law and order concerns in North 24 Parganas district's Sandeshkhali.

A 13-member team of Election Commission of India, led by chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar, reached West Bengal on Sunday evening to review preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections. It arrived amid law and order concerns in North 24 Parganas district's Sandeshkhali.

The team will hold meetings with various national and local political parties. It will also hold meetings with police superintendents, district magistrates, police commissioners, divisional commissioners and IGs.

The team will hold meetings with Chief Secretary BP Gopalika, DGP Rajiv Kumar and various enforcement agencies, sources said.


Meanwhile, state BJP has in a complaint to chief electoral officer Aariz Aftab alleged presence of fraudulent names on the voters' list.
