Lok Sabha Polls: EC announces fresh polls for 11 Manipur polling stations

The Election Commission of India, citing Sections 58(2) and 58A(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, has declared the polling held on April 19, 2024, at 11 polling stations in 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency as void.

A fresh poll has been scheduled for April 22, 2024, at the same stations, with voting hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

• 4/46-Bamon Kampu (South Building), 4-Kshetrigao
• Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School, 4-Kshetrigao
• S. Ibobi Primary School (East Wing), Khurai Thongam Leikai, 3-Khurai
• Bamon Kampu Upper Primary School, 4-Kshetrigao
• Pioneer Academy, 4-Kshetrigao
• Irilbung High School (North Wing), 4-Kshetrigao
• Irilbung High School (South Wing), 4-Kshetrigao
• National Children's School, 4-Kshetrigao
• Iroisemba Upper Primary School (East), 5-Thongju
• Iroisemba Upper Primary School (West), 5-Thongju
• Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Middle), 5-Thongju

All eligible voters from these stations are urged to participate in the fresh poll and cast their votes.

Chief Electoral Officer Pradeep Kumar Jha has urged all voters of the affected polling stations to come out in large numbers and exercise their franchise.

Incidents of firing, intimidation, destruction of EVMs at some polling booths and allegations of booth capturing were reported from conflict-hit Manipur that recorded a turnout of 72 per cent in the two Lok Sabha constituencies - Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur - on Friday.

Earlier in the day, the Congress had demanded repoll in 47 polling stations alleging that booths were captured and elections were rigged.

Manipur Congress president K Meghachandra said the party had lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer demanding repoll in 36 polling stations in Inner Manipur constituency and 11 in Outer Manipur constituency.
