While the NDA government might come back at the Centre for the third consecutive term, Modi’s slogan of ‘Abki baar 400 paar’ looks to be a distant dream.As the vote counting for the Lok Sabha elections progresses, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA has surpassed the majority threshold in early results, with the INDIA bloc securing over 200 seats, contradicting the predictions of exit polls.

The BJP is currently leading in 236 constituencies, with its broader alliance, the NDA, ahead in 299 seats, surpassing the majority requirement of 272.
In contrast, the INDIA bloc is leading in 226 seats, with other parties leading in 18 seats.
The Congress is ahead in 92 seats, followed by the Samajwadi Party with 34 seats, DMK with 21 seats, Trinamool Congress with 30 seats, Shiv Sena (under Uddhav Thackeray) with 10 seats, NCP (SP) with eight seats, CPI(M) with five seats, and Aam Aadmi Party with three seats.
The INDIA bloc is notably making significant gains in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, leading in the highest number of constituencies.
