Lok Sabha Election 2024: Bihar records lowest voter turnout at 47.74%; Tripura sees highest turnout at 80.06% in first phase

Voting in the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections began at 7 am today. To choose the next group of Members of Parliament across the nation, voters in as many as 21 states and 102 constituencies participated in the first round of polling. Assam recorded 71.46% voter turnout, while Manipur and Meghalaya recorded 68.81% and 73.69%, respectively at the end of polling, according to data released on the Election Commission's TURNOUT app.

Notably, Bihar recorded the lowest turnout at 47.74% while Tripura saw the highest turnout among all states at 80.06%.

In the first phase of LS polls, voting is underway in the following states - Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

Meanwhile, first phase polling is also being carried out in the following Union Territories today - Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry.
