Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 1: Schedule
Nearly 970 million individuals are eligible to vote in the forthcoming elections, which will be held across more than 1.2 million polling stations. Ahead of the announcement, the election commission visited all states to evaluate their readiness.
The BJP aims to secure 400 seats for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and 370 seats independently, marking a crucial contest for the Opposition, unified under the INDIA bloc in numerous states. Major parties have commenced unveiling candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, with ongoing discussions regarding seat distribution in specific states.
In the 2019 elections, the BJP claimed 303 seats, while the Congress secured 52, falling short of the required number to become the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. These elections were announced on March 10 and conducted across seven phases.
