India to host Olympics in 2036: BJP says it's Modi ki guarantee during manifesto release

In its official list of promises, the party announced that it will officially host the Olympics in the country in 2036 if it assumes power.
"We will facilitate IOA to bid for hosting the Olympic Games in 2036, and develop sports infrastructure like stadiums and state-of-the-art training centres to host major international sporting events," said party's manifesto.
Earlier, PM Modi echoed the promise of hosting Olympics in the country during the 141st IOC Session that was held in Mumbai.
Apart from hosting the grand sporting event, the party in the poll pitch also included the launch of a new programme for sportspersons, providing them with benefits like educational opportunities, employment opportunities and promotion opportunities.
"We will include more traditional sports under the Khelo India Scheme. We will incentivize sports goods manufacturing in partnership with the sports ecosystem in Bharat to take forward the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat," said party's poll pitch for upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Apart from the promises for the development of sports in the country, the party said they will continue to expand the Khelo India network and other initiatives to nurture future athletes who can represent the nation with pride.
"We will promote startups in sports and help create a technology ecosystem in sports," said BJP's poll pitch.
The voting will begin on April 19 and the results will be declared on June 4, 2024. The term of the 17th Lok Sabha Assembly will expire on June 16, 2024. The elections will be held in seven phases. The first phase will be held on April 19, second phase on April 26, third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, fifth phase on May 20, sixth phase on May 25 and the seventh phase on June 1, 2024.
