Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has said that he would quit politics if Rahul Gandhi loses elections from Amethi.

He rejected the claim that BJP candidate Smriti Irani is giving a tough fight to Rahul Gandhi in Amethi. Congress president Rahul Gandhi is also contesting from Wayanad in Kerala on a second seat.

Cricketer-turned-politician Sidhu also rejected the BJP's charge that no development has taken place in the country in the last 70 years. He said that the country made everything from a needle to an aircraft during this period.


Known for his controversial statement, Sidhu had faced action from the Election Commission for violating modal code of conduct during poll campaigning. The Election Commission had banned Sidhu from campaigning for 72 hours.
