ECI Directive Ensures Public Order
The ECI has ordered that all wine shops and bars in the affected and adjacent constituencies must remain closed during this period. "All wine shops and bars will be closed on polling day to maintain public order," stated the ECI directive. This measure is crucial for preventing disruptions during the elections.
Prohibition Timeline and Additional Dry Day
The prohibition begins at 6 PM on the day before voting and ends at 6 PM on the voting day. This measure aims to prevent any attempts to influence voters through the distribution of free liquor. An additional dry day is scheduled for June 4, coinciding with the vote counting. This dry period will extend until the election results are announced, ensuring public order during this critical phase.
Extended Measures in NCR
Similar measures will be enforced in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), where dry days are also scheduled from 6 PM on May 23 to 6 PM on May 25. These measures are part of the ECI's efforts to ensure orderly and peaceful elections across various regions.
The sixth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is scheduled for May 25. This phase will see polling in 58 constituencies across six states and two Union territories. Notably, all seven seats in Delhi and all ten seats in Haryana will vote in this phase.

- Bihar: Valmiki Nagar, Paschim Champaran, Purvi Champaran, Sheohar, Vaishali, Gopalganj (SC), Siwan, Maharajganj
- Odisha: Bhubaneswar, Puri, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar (SC), Cuttack, Sambalpur
- Uttar Pradesh: Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Phulpur, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Shrawasti, Domriyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr, Bhadohi
