General secretary of BJP’s Arunachal Pradesh unit quits
GUWAHATI: Jarpum Gamlin, the general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh unit, has resigned from the party. The development comes after Gamlin was denied a ticket to contest the Assembly elections from Liromba seat.

On Sunday, the saffron party declared a list of 54 candidates for the 60-member Assembly. Two sitting ministers, Kumar Waii and Jarkar Gamlin, and nine sitting MLAs could not find a place in the list.

The party has given ticket to Goruk Pordung, replacing Home Minister Kumar Waii from the Bameng seat, while Kento Jini has replaced Tourism Minister Jarkar Gamlin from the Along East seat.

Sources in Congress and the National People's Party (NPP) said some leaders are in touch with the legislators who did not get tickets. Both parties are yet to announce their list of candidates.

The state will have simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Polls for the 60 Assembly seats and two parliamentary seats will be held on April 11.
