Preparing the countrywide electoral machinery for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday began a two-day conference to deliberate on all aspects of the 2024 general elections with chief electoral officers (CEO) of all states and Union territories in attendance.

From election planning to expenditure monitoring, electoral roll, IT applications, data management, EVM/VVPAT, SVEEP strategy, media and communication, the conference is focusing on every poll detail.

The ECI has also started its field-level poll preparedness reviews with the commission visiting Andhra Pradesh earlier this week.

At the New Delhi meet, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar expressed confidence in the CEOs' readiness to provide the best possible electoral experience to all stakeholders and stressed that the road to the elections is a "journey of duty and resolve." He also underlined that the thrust of the upcoming elections would be to ensure the best possible experience for the voters.

Commending the CEOs of states that recently held polls, the CEC appreciated that a solid set of preparations was in place for 2024 parliamentary elections.

CEOs of the states where polls were recently held gave detailed presentations about their experiences, learnings and innovative practices they adopted during the assembly elections. CEOs from the other states also presented their status of preparation for conduct of elections in various thematic areas.
