Assembly Election Guide 2026: How can I register as a voter?
Log on to www.eci.nic.in or the website of Chief Electoral Officer (CEOs) of the state where you ordinarily resides. Click on tab 'Online Voter Registration'.
To get registered as a voter, you have to submit a filled in Form-6 to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of your assembly constituency after which your name will be included in the electoral roll as a voter. There are various ways to submit Form-6. These are as follows:
1. Online application
Step 1. Log on to www.eci.nic.in or the website of Chief Electoral Officer (CEOs) of the state where you ordinarily resides. Click on tab 'Online Voter Registration'.
Step 2. Sign up to obtain a username and password.
Step 3. Upload one passport-size colour photo in the space mentioned.
Step 4. Upload the proof of residence and age. In case you are unable to upload, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) may also collect the documents from your house.
2. By post
Step 2. Post it to the voter’s centre of your constituency.
3. Deliver by hand
Step 1. Download Form-6 from www.eci.nic.in or your state CEO websites. Fill it in and attach required documents.
Step 2. Give the completed form to the Voters Registration Centre of your constituency or to the BLO.
Here is the complete online process to update your name in the voter list:
Visit www.nvsp.in website and upload your documents.
Documents needed to update your name:
* One passport-size photograph
* Address proof: A ration card, passport, driving licence or a utility bill (phone or electricity) can be uploaded.
Once you submit your application, you will receive an email containing all details of your updated application.
You can now track your request through the given application ID.
Your voter ID card will issued within a month.
