Pragya Thakur, Babubhai Rayka get three-day campaign ban

EC “strongly condemned” statements by Thakur and “warned her not to repeat such conduct.”

New Delhi:The Election Commission on Wednesday handed out a three-day campaign ban each to BJP Bhopal candidate Pragya Thakur and Congress Gujarat unit president Babubhai Rayka, along with a showcause notice to Congress’ Navjot Singh Sidhu.

EC “strongly condemned” statements by Thakur and “warned her not to repeat such conduct. The commission has barred her from campaigning for 72 hours starting 6 am on May 2.” Rayka was hauled up for use of “intemperate and abusive language transgressing the limits of decency.”

Sidhu has been asked to submit an explanation on his comments on the Prime Minister by May 2.


Meanwhile, EC gave a clean chit to Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath and Madhya Pradesh minister PC Sharma.
