NEW DELHI: The Congress leadership is likely to announce the second part of Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in the new year, party sources said.

The East-West Yatra is being planned to be from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat and it could be in hybrid manner - partly by foot and by vehicles - and is being planned to be part of the Congress mobilisation for the Lok Sabha elections. The yatra is expected to build a campaign against the "BJP's communal politics" and would highlight the bread and butter issues, including the unemployment issue of the youth.

The second part of Yatra is being planned, incidentally, in the wake of the recent Congress defeats in three Hindi-heartland states where Gandhi had led the Congress campaign.

Gandhi led the first Bharat Jodo Yatra by foot from Kanyakumari to Srinagar last year by campaigning against the "communal polarisation".

Sources said the second Bharat Jodo Yatra will cross through many states, including large parts of Uttar Pradesh.
