The DMK on Saturday finalised its seat-sharing arrangement with ally Congress by allotting nine seats in the State to Congress and one in Puducherry. This means, the Congress got the same number of seats it had in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

DMK chief M K Stalin, Tamilnadu PCC Chief Selva Perunthagai finalised the deal in Chennai in the presence of AICC general secretary (Org) K C Venugopal. After allotting two seats each to CPI and CPI-M and one seat each to film star Kamalahasan's party, IUML and a Tamil outfit, DMK will contest the rest of seats in Tamilnadu, which has a total of 39 Lok Sabha polls.

Announcing the alliance, K C Venugopal posted on X: "Had an extremely fruitful meeting with Thiru MK Stalin and we are happy to announce that our alliance with the DMK for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has been sealed for the Lok Sabha Elections!The INDIA alliance is all set to send 40 MPs to the Lok Sabha and it will form the next government at the Centre!".
