Congress releases second list of Lok Sabha candidates | Live
The Congress on Tuesday announced its second list, comprising 43 candidates, for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

While announcing the candidates, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said, "we have already announced our first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Today, we are going to announce the second list. Yesterday, CEC met and cleared the list of around 43 names from Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan..."

The seats announced on Tuesday include 13 from Assam, 10 from Madhya Pradesh, 10 from Rajasthan, seven from Gujarat and three from Uttarakhand, besides one from Daman and Diu, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal added.


In this list, out of the 43 candidates, 10 are General candidates, 13 OBC candidates, 10 SC candidates, 9 ST candidates and 1 Muslim candidate.

Congress has fielded former MP CM Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath from Chhindwara.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi will contest from Jorhat, Assam and Rahul Kaswa, who recently joined the Congress after leaving the BJP, will contest from Rajasthan's Churu.

Vaibhav Gehlot, son of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has been fielded from Jalore, Rajasthan. Interestingly, Sachin Pilot's name did not feature in the second list.

Congress leaders Ajay Maken and Pawan Khera were also at the briefing.

The second list came a day after the Congress' central election committee, chaired by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, met at the party headquarters here to finalise the candidates.
