BJP LS Polls 2024 Second Candidate List: Here are likely names that may be included or dropped

The BJP wrapped up its second and potentially final central election committee meeting with the presence of PM Narendra Modi and other top leaders, extending late into Monday. The party is gearing up to unveil candidates for over 150 seats on Tuesday, following the initial release of a list of 195 candidates after the first CEC meeting.

States under discussion included Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Haryana.

During the CEC meeting, discussions revolved around candidates for eight Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh. Sources told ET that names like D Purandeswari, Y Satya Kumar, former CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, CM Ramesh, and YS Chowdary are being considered for the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha elections. The BJP has formed alliances with the Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena for both the Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state. Discussions on an alliance with the BJD in Odisha are still ongoing.



In Karnataka, the party is set to finalise names for all 27 seats it plans to contest out of the total 29, leaving the remaining two for its alliance partner, JDS.

Though Mysuru-Kodagu is not finalised, reports suggest sitting MP Prathap Simha could lose the ticket, while Yaduveer Wadiyar could get the BJP ticket. Names were approved by party leaders, with more clarity expected after the final list announcement. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalinkumar Kateel is likely to lose his ticket, while Union Minister Narayanaswamy from Chitradurga is expected to get the ticket.
