BJP fields Kerala unit president K Surendran against Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday released its fifth list of candidates with 111 names. The saffron party has fielded K Surendran its Kerala unit president from Wayanad, from where Rahul Gandhi is a sitting MP.

The party released the names of the candidates for the Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Sikkim, Telangana, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, BJP fielded Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, a stronghold of Congress.


Former Congress MP Naveen Jindal who joined the BJP today will contest from Haryana's Kurukshetra on BJP ticket.

Recently, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on BJP during a press conference and termed the freezing of the Party's bank accounts, "a criminal action done by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister."

"So, the idea that India is a democracy is a lie. There is no democracy in India today. The idea that India is the world's largest democracy is a lie. A complete lie. 20% of India votes for us and we are not able to pay Rs 2 for anything. It has been orchestrated to cripple us in the elections. Even if our bank accounts are unfrozen today, huge amount of debt damage has been done to Indian democracy," Rahul had said.
