Aap-JJP team in Haryana to intensify Congress-BJP contest

The alliance with JJP was on the cards after Congress in Haryana had turned down the possibility of an alliance with AAP a few days ago. AAP had supported JJP in bypoll for Jind assembly polls. AAP so far had not been able to make much impact in Haryana in the last Lok Sabha polls. The party is still striving for kind of traction that had attained it success in Punjab in the last Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
JJP, party led by Dushyanat who is grandson of former Haryana chief minister OP Chautala, could assert some influence in Rohtak, Sirsa, Hisar and Sonepat parliamentary seats but winning a seat would be an uphill task for the new party. Dushyanat, who won as MP from Hisar from INLD, had parted from the parent party following a family feud and fromed the new party earlier this year.
The alliance is likely to mostly affect INLD in the polls as the breakaway faction JJP is also predominantly a Jat oriented party. “JJP is likely to segregate the Jat votes which could also hurt Congress in some seats,” a political analyst said.
