Addressing his last BJP rally in the 2024 general elections, the prime minister appealed to voters to shun Congress and AAP due to their background of misrule. "These days we are hearing a chorus of 'Constitution, Constitution' from the INDI Alliance. They (Congress) had strangled democracy during the Emergency. They did not think of the Constitution when burning tyres were put around the neck of Sikhs in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots," he said.
"Now, another highly corrupt party (AAP) has joined hands with Congress. This party is also engaged in spreading falsehoods," the prime minister alleged. "These extremely corrupt people who are also big liars have now pushed Punjab into gang wars."
