As the national capital gears up for voting in the seven Lok Sabha seats, the Delhi electoral office has started distributing voter information slips to registered electors. The voter information slip not only contains the voter's details but also provides the address of the polling location, the polling booth number, and the serial number of the person on the electoral list. This information aims to assist people in voting smoothly without any inconvenience.

The information slips are currently being distributed by booth-level officers (BLOs) in the area. This process is expected to be completed within the next few days. According to officials, the BLOs will show their photo identity cards and request the individual receiving the slip to provide an acknowledgment along with their contact details.

"Voters are requested to keep the information slip safe and take it with them to the polling station to cast their vote. This will help polling staff quickly locate their names on the electoral rolls, thereby saving everyone's time," an official told The Times of India.

Lok Sabha Elections: Alternative documents needed for casting votes
Voting in Delhi is scheduled for May 25. There are 13,641 polling booths set up across 2,627 locations in the city. Over 152 million voters are eligible to participate in the voting process. The voter information slip will assist voters in finding their polling locations, booths, and details on the electoral list with ease.

Officials mentioned that the slip alone will not suffice for casting votes. In addition, voters must possess either the electoral photo identity card issued by the Election Commission or any of the 12 supporting documents specified by the panel. The acceptable documents include a PAN card, Aadhaar card, driving license, passport, and passbook with a photo.

Delhi Lok Sabha Elections: What about people who do not have voter information slips?
Electoral officials have mentioned that individuals who do not receive voter information slips should not be concerned. The slip can be downloaded online using their election card number. The downloaded slip will contain the complete address of the polling location, the booth number, and the voter's serial number.

Each polling location will have a helpdesk available for people to obtain necessary details. "Voter information slips shall not be accepted as standalone identification documents for voting at polling stations. The elector must carry the Voter ID Card or one of the 12 alternative documents specified by the Commission during polling," stated an official.

Political parties have begun distributing information slips to voters. They receive the electoral list of all constituencies, enabling them to prepare voter slips with the assistance of booth-level agents and distribute them to the public. This process aids them in establishing a connection with voters before the polls and campaigning for their candidates.
