Connect to villages, organise meeting of new and youth voters: Nadda writes to BJP state units

BJP is planning a large-scale village outreach for two months starting from January. Along with that the state units will organise youth meetings at 5000 places across the country. This will be in addition to the currently ongoing beneficiary outreach.

BJP national president JP Nadda on Monday wrote letters to all the state BJP chiefs instructing them to initiate the village outreach program called ‘Gaon Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’. The program will start in the first week of January and will go on till February.

The BJP has identified seven lakh villages across the country. As per 2011 census, there are 6,40,000 villages. However, BJP sources told ET that it has divided some villages into two for their own calculation.


As per Nadda’s instruction, there would be at least one BJP worker assigned for each village. In the case of a bigger village, there will be more than one party worker. Union ministers, state chief ministers and senior leaders would also participate in this drive.

Along with the village outreach, Nadda has also instructed the state units to work towards attracting youth and first-time voters.

On January 24, a day before the National Voters Day, the party leaders have been asked to organise youth meetings at 5,000 places across the country. The state units have been asked to ensure participation of at least 1000 first-time and youth voters in all such meetings. By doing this, the party will ensure reaching out to 50 lakh young voters including first-time voters.
