By going against the INDIA bloc’s agenda, Congress leader Koustav Bagchi teams up with BJP Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari in West Bengal to support job seekers in the state.

The job seekers in West Bengal carried out a rally against the ruling Trinamool (TMC) government, demanding jobs for eligible candidates. The job seekers, selected in the recruitment examination have been protesting for more than 900 days in Kolkata demanding recruitment, including Group D.

“This is a sensitive issue and if the Leader of Opposition (LoP) has joined, it is praiseworthy. If the West Bengal Chief Minister had come, I would have been happy walking with her. I have fought for these job seekers in court. So, I am here to participate in the rally,” Bagchi said.

Bagchi added that he supports the cause of the job seekers and the forum is apolitical, so he has joined the rally with BJP leader.

Bagchi had recently written to General Secretary of AICC K C Venugopal claiming that Bengal unit of the party is confused over the support to the Trinamool on the national level in the INDIA bloc and its opposition in the state.

“Despite passing examinations, instead of getting jobs, their jobs have been sold. They had to move Calcutta High Court in order to get permission for their rally. On October 3, I will address a rally for them. I am determined to support them," said LoP Adhiakri attacking TMC.

Adhikari also proposed for Nabanna Abhijaan for the cause of the jobseekers, including the teachers and Group-D workers.

“I will stay on the road in their fight. I will fight for them inside the assembly as well. They have passed the relevant examination but did not get jobs. Their jobs have been sold by the likes of former Education minister Partha Chatterjee,” said Adhikari.

He also added that no one can stop the job seekers from protesting.

“The road does not belong to any political parties,” said Adhikari.
