Hyderabad Lok Sabha Result: Asaduddin Owaisi wins against Madhavi Latha

In a high-stakes battle in Hyderabad, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi won by a margin of 3,38,087 votes against BJP's Madhavi Latha.

One of the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana, the Hyderabad seat has long been an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) stronghold for the past three decades, with the seat being passed on from Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi to his son Asaduddin Owaisi, the current Member of Parliament.

The seat has also created quite a buzz as the BJP candidate is growing on popularity and has even topped headlines after a video surfaced on May 13, showing her checking voter ID cards at a polling booth.


In the video, Latha can be seen asking Muslim women to remove their Burkhas and verify their identities along with checking their voter IDs.

Meanwhile, Owaisi has been winning in the seat for the past four elections.

AIMIM chief, Owaisi, has won two of the last four elections with more than 50% of the vote, demonstrating the trust Hyderabad residents have had in the party leader for the past 20 years.

Owaisi defeated Bhagavanth Rao of the BJP by a margin of two lakh votes in 2019, garnering 58.95% of the total vote. In 2014, Owaisi secured 52.94% of the vote.
