i''m settled here in the us. my academic background is be in electronics from bits and an mba in marketing from the university of california. iâ€™m currently working as an international marketing manager in a multinational company with leading electronic brand. my experience has been of two years in this company. we are going to have a newborn soon, and my wife and i really would like to see our kids being brought up with traditional values in india. also, iâ€™ve got my parents in new delhi who are close to retirement and iâ€™d like to be close to them now. iâ€™m really looking for a roadmap to establish a career in india so that i can fulfil those objectives. i hope you can advise me on what strategy to adopt to develop a career in india, given my academic and professional background. manish rawat, via e-mail india would love to welcome back more and more professionals like you. the options that you may try could be: 1. request for an internal transfer in your company for a suitable position in india. 2. carry out a web search for international companies looking forward to appoint a suitable person for their business in india. 3. if you have an inclination to set up your own business, then explore the possibility of representing any company or product from your residence-cum-office that you may create in india. you can also identify a bouquet of products or services which may have scope in india. 4. take the risk of coming to india without any preparation and start your job search after settling down. donâ€™t feel hesitant. good professionals can always create a scope for themselves wherever they are. i completed my b.com in july 2000 and then i did a six-month computer course. from march 2001, i started my preparations for premier mba institutes, including cat 2001. now results are out and i am not being selected to any one of the institutes i had opted for, except institutes from mat. should i give another try to it? if yes, then should i do some job along with my preparations as the year 2001 went idle for me? what kind of job should i look for as i am simply a graduate and a computer literate? do these mba institutes accept the job of working at call centers? or should i take admission in any b grade institutes for the time being and give another try to premier institutes next year? siddharth khare some of the institutes under mat also enjoy good reputation. you may go ahead for a full-time course and take up a full-time job thereafter. if you are still interested to study at premier management institutes, you may join them to do your fellowship after a few years of work experience. taking up a job in a call center is a matter of your own preference. some institutes may prefer executive level experience for admissions. this may be in any kind of industry. joining a lesser known mba course and studying in it with half-baked preparations may actually cause you a loss of another one year. you are the best judge to take your decision keeping in mind your preferences and opportunities.
