'Women entrepreneurs must pay attention to quality'
Women entrepreneurs must pay utmost attention to quality and create an image of reliability for Indian products in the international market, Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala said on Monday.

CHENNAI: Women entrepreneurs must pay utmost attention to quality and create an image of reliability for Indian products in the international market, Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala said on Monday.
"There is no standard prescription for success. To succeed, a woman must evolve an integrated self managing mechanism that encompasses work, home and environment, manage her time better, develop new skills, improve her participation in professional meetings and network effectively," he said, inaugurating the SAARC Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs Council seminar on "International Business and Challenges" here.
He said the international market was becoming fiercely competitive. "The margins on exports are fast eroding and the market is unrelenting, except for the most efficient producer. Excellence in quality and design standards is increasingly becoming the touchstone for survival in the market," he said.
P M Amza, Deputy High Commissioner, Sri Lanka, said women in SAARC have played a prominent role in politics, but had not made their mark in business. "There are lots of impediments and challenges," he said.
He outlined a few challenges like lack of access to finance, lack of knowledge of the international market and contacts and said that businesswomen today had the potential and the opportunity to succeed in the current competitive international business scenario.
