N S Tomar said generating employment was the government's "prime priority" and it is committed to do so by developing labour intensive industries.

Labour Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said generating employment was the government's "prime priority" and it is committed to do so by developing labour intensive industries and imparting skill development training for the youth.
"Our ministry wants to create an environment where the interest of both labour and industry are kept in synergy," he told reporters after meeting with employers' associations here.
Favouring creation of a " conducive environment for industry, which would translate into better benefits for the worker", he said, "Labour welfare and industrial development cannot be pursued in isolation and only a comprehensive approach can lead us to the fulfillment of our goals." He said his government was in favour of rapid industrialisation and his ministry was working on issues where the bottleneck gets solved quickly.
Asked whether the ministry had identified any particular problems, Tomar said that many a times, certain problems like environment clearance for those setting up industry come up and the ministry had talked to the environment ministry regarding the issue.
"If anybody wants to put up an industry, getting environment and forest clearance for that...We have discussed this issue with the environment minister and I think, roads are opening up slowly," he told reporters.
