WB likely to implement SSI policy

The West Bengal government today said the state small scale industry (SSI) policy would be implemented within this fiscal year.


KOLKATA: The West Bengal government on Friday said the state small scale industry (SSI) policy would be implemented within this fiscal. "We hope to place the SSI policy before the state Cabinet within next 15 days," state Small Scale Enterprise Minister Manab Mukherjee said here on Friday on the sidelines of a seminar on cluster development organised by Engineering Export Promotion Council.

Beside the policy, Mukherjee said the government would start working on all the 43 clusters for which in-principal approvals had been received out of 91 proposals sent. Among them, 10 clusters would be on textile related, six for food sector and rest for several areas on SSIs, Mukherjee said.

Union SSI additional secretary and development commissioner Jawahar Sircar said that the Limited Liability Partnership expected by to be effective by July and listing will help the SSI sector in a big way for greater investment
