Venkaiah to get BJP's report on Kelkar proposals on Friday

NEW DELHI: The BJP committee to study the recommendations of the Vijay Kelkar Panel on direct and indirect taxes had another round of meetings on Thursday to give finishing touches to the report which is to be given to party president M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday.
The committee had rejected the Kelkar recommendations on personal income tax and small saving interest rates and strongly favoured retention of tax benefits for housing loans and pensioners.
The Singh Committee Report would be given to Finance Minister Jaswant Singh by Naidu on January 11 for incorporation in the General Budget 2002-2003.
"I would be getting the report by tomorrow and after going through it, I would give to the Finance Minister on January 11," Naidu said.
