The government has asked state trading enterprises to submit periodic reports of actual shipment of the commodity by different agencies to the Department of Consumer Affairs.

NEW DELHI: In a bid to keep a close watch on onion exports, the government has asked state trading enterprises to submit periodic reports of actual shipment of the commodity by different agencies to the Department of Consumer Affairs.
A notification by the Director General of Foreign Trade said, "Periodic reports of the actual shipment of onion by different agencies be submitted to the Department of Consumer Affairs."
The DGFT also said a weekly report of permits issued would be provided to the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (Nafed), which would work as a nodal agency to keep the government informed of the outflow of onions.
Nafed is the nodal agency which decides the minimum export price of onions every month in consultation with 12 other agencies after taking into account domestic availability and prices.
