new delhi: a new tourism policy would be introduced by the government soon, bringing the sector under the concurrent list and focusing on higher foreign exchange earnings as well as employment generation. the policy has been cleared by the cabinet and is likely to be announced soon, official sources said. the focus of the new policy is on making tourism a multi-dimensional activity and creating a conducive environment for inflow of more fdi in the sector. a tourism development authority would also be established under the new policy to encourage a growth-oriented partnership between the government and the private sector. the new policy would replace the existing policy which was formulated in 1982.
