CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government will soon unveil a ''new industrial policy'', consisting of measures to streamline administrative regulations and processes, improve industrial productivity and profitability in high-end areas and develop adequate infrastructure for attracting industrial investments, chief minister J Jayalalitha said on Friday.
The new policy would include steps to optimise the competitiveness in new growth sectors such as bio-technology, infotech, telecommunications and genetic engineering, Jayalalithaa said addressing the captains of Indian industry, organised by FICCI as part of its two-day executive committee meeting, which began here today.
Explaining in detail the steps being taken by her government to push the state to the numero uno position in the country, she said her vision of development for the next 10 years would include doubling the per capita income of the state by 2010.
By 2010, all villages in the state would have electricity, trunk roads, telephone and Internet connectivity, she said and asked FICCI members to work in tandem with the state government by providing a ''think tank'' which would give ideas to work upon.
